Karazhan also known as Medivh's Tower – is an abandoned citadel (or castle), located on a nexus of ley lines in southern Deadwind Pass. The tower is best known for its last known occupant — Medivh, the last Guardian of Tirisfal. After Medivh was killed by Khadgar, Lothar, and Garona, the tower sealed itself off from the rest of the world. But recently, Karazhan has reawakened — an evil presence has taken the tower as its own, its halls crawling with spirits and demons... and Medivh's presence is still alive and well, even decades after his death.

These are the words of Lord Illidan Stormrage to his most trusted lieutenant, Lady Vashj. Shortly after the Third War, when Illidan requested the aid of the naga, a group of naga led by Lady Vashj answered his call. Ever since, Vashj has displayed a fierce dedication to Illidan. Now the naga witch carefully monitors Coilfang's operations from her seat of power within Serpentshrine Cavern. Far more at home here among the waters of the reservoir than locked within the cold stone walls of Black Temple, Vashj maintains a close eye on her minions and personally oversees the draining of Zangarmarsh. Whether her loyalties belong to Illidan alone, however, remains to be seen.

The mighty Tempest Keep was created by the enigmatic naaru: sentient beings of pure energy and the sworn enemies of the Burning Legion. In addition to serving as a base of operations for the naaru, the structure itself possesses the technology to teleport through alternate dimensions, traveling from one location to another in the blink of an eye. With Outland serving as the strategic battlefront in the ongoing Burning Crusade, the Naaru used Tempest Keep to reach the shattered land.

The Temple of Karabor was the center of draenei worship until they were killed by corrupted orcs. In the aftermath, the Warlocks of the Shadow Council renamed it Black Temple. When Illidan the Betrayer fled to Outland after the Third War, he ousted the Temple's ruler — the pit lord Magtheridon — and claimed his throne as the lord of the blasted world. After the Dark Portal reopened, Illidan began to tighten his grip on Outland from within the profaned sanctum, where he awaited any and all who would challenge his rule.

Once, forest trolls controlled a vast swath of Lordaeron. Their empire was called Zul'Aman, and the area currently known as Zul'Aman was their power center. Eventually, the high elves joined with the humans of Arathor and defeated the forest trolls in an immense battle that signaled the end of the forest trolls' empire. And now this tiny place in northwest above Lordaeron – is the only thing, remaining of the ancient empire, spread all over the continent in the past. Many treasure-seekers are still wandering about legendary forest troll empire relics in Zul'Aman, ignoring the rumors about their relentless leader Zul'jin return. More and more heroes disappear when piles burn behind Zul'Aman walls, and troll army becomes stronger. Trolls want to revenge humans and high elf heritors - blood elves.

For millennia the mystical pool of energy known as the Sunwell fueled the potent magic of the exiled high elves. Now, the remnants of this ancient fountain have become the Burning Legion's latest target as the demons prepare to summon their commander, Kil'jaeden, with the Sunwell's energy. Heroes from Shattrath City have joined under the banner of the Shattered Sun Offensive, endeavoring to crush the Legion's invasion before it becomes insurmountable. More combatants join the Offensive every day, but the might of the Legion cannot be easily suppressed. Fierce demonic servants guard the Sunwell Plateau, attacking anyone who interferes with their proceedings. As the time of Kil'jaeden's arrival draws near, Azeroth's heroes have one final chance to save their world from blistering devastation.
